Minutes of the meeting held on Thursday 2nd June 2011
Present: Derek Price, Huw Jeffries, Wendy Griffin
1. Apologies: Karen Sherwood, Phil Knill, Tony Cooke, Fred Barker,

2. Minutes from last meeting: Approved and signed by Chair.
Matters arising: Letter to be sent to Fred Barker wishing him well. JE
Allotments: in Tony’s absence, no further progress. TC
Playground Area: Karen to investigate suitable location and costs involved - not progressed. KS
Newsletter: Derek to take photographs and action. DP
Manhole by Guidfa Meadows: investigated, no further action required as the cover is fine.
BT Hole by Badgers Green: repaired, no further action.
Village Notice Board: Derek to approach Ian Ward re quote for hardwood and softwood notice boards. DP
3. Highways Matters
Station Signs: Derek has spoken to PCC Highways Dept. who are visiting the site 3/6/11 with a view to providing signs.
Briar Field: the leak has been noted by PCC and is in the provision for the financial year. Derek will chase the Trunk Road Agency about this. DP
4. Update from County Councillor, PCC
Cllr. Fred Barker unable to attend.
Derek reminded the meeting that the new cabinet arrangement was in place instead of the board.
The number of councillors will be reduced by increasing the population represented by each councillor.
5. Village & Community Issues inc. Community Centre update
Community Centre: AGM going ahead on 14/6/11.
Jolyon Wickes thanked for his efforts in securing funding to purchase new table tennis equipment with a view to setting up a club.
Use of Centre increasing. Plans to improve some of the rooms to increase usefulness.
Suggestion that front fence could be sold as advertising space. Derek chasing. DP
Possible grants may be available from aggegrate tax. Derek enquiring. DP
Chase plaque for bridge in memory of Terry Simpson. JE
Community Issues:
Circular walk: Section between The Park Motel and Church Farm is OK; the rest needs work. HJ
6. Community Council Website Update
Monthly statistics show increasing usage.
4800 approx hits to date.
Links now established with Community Centre via bookings link.
Derek received an e-mail from Alan Dunnit in Edinburgh praising the website. Copy forwarded to web master.
7. Financial Reports
Jo absent, therefore no up-date available.
New mandate needed. Jo to action. JE
8. Correspondence
Mid & West Wales Fire & Rescue Authority’s Draft Action Plan 2012-13 which will focus on educating children and young people on the dangers of arson. They are also targeting improving the service provision from Llanelli. (? Are all other stations fully efficient then??)
9. Planning Applications
None.
Planning Department’s weekly list to be checked on the website and any items reported back to the next meeting.
