Minutes of the meeting held on Thursday 12th May 2011

Update from Powys County Council: Cllr Fred Barker was unable to attend the meeting

5. Village and Community Issues
Community Centre had an encouraging meeting on 10th May, there was good attendance with forward thinking and positive outcomes. The usage of the hall is up & people are looking for opportunities to organize new events. Vice-chair has done lots of work and maintenance on building and premise is looking a lot better.
A thank you for the donation of the royal wedding mugs was in the school newletter.
Query re allotments in the village – Tony will look and find advice from www.nsalg.org.uk – National Allotment Association. Possible site discussed and local development boundary discussed.
Need for a playground area discussed as local member of community had raised issue by writing to PCC. An area is needed for local housing needs, separate to the school facilities. To be looked into.
Discussion about what the community council do for the community – it was felt that a lot do not know what the community council contribute – idea to do a newsletter and drop in all houses in village detailing last few years activities.
Man hole cover by Guidfa meadows on the grass verge has split in two.
There is a large hole left by a relocated BT pole by Badgers Green, leaving a major tripping hazard.

7. Financial Reports
Community account - £1457.15 CR @ 22 April 2011.
HMRC Parish Council PAYE implementation is discussed in relation to future of council and having to set themselves up as an employer. Who is to fund this added expense? Will await official correspondence to community council before a decision is made.
New bank mandate is needed as new members have joined
Audit for 2010/2011 is received
