The Police are attending community council meetings to find out local concerns and how they can be more approachable.
Crimes committed locally are a trend by out of county gangs and tend to be the same in all communities eg. garages and farms.
Farm Watch and the Ringmaster system are in the early stages of being a source of information to locals about possible activities in their areas eg. selling of generators, fuel theft and theft from sheds and garages.
Ringmaster is run by Trading Standards – clerk to register community council to have regular updates via email.
Fear to local crime is always higher than actual crimes levels.
Query re. road safety and speed checks on the Fron and the abbey turning – stated that the main problem is not where the van is situated by the 50mph limit near the turning for Rock Road.
Community Council requested a presence on the zebra crossing near the school as have been some ‘near misses’ recently and is a traffic calming area but more needs to be done to deter people from driving so fast off the roundabout.
Council thanked officers for attending the meeting and will keep in contact for regular community updates.
4. Highways Matters:
Bus shelter – positive feedback from Welsh Assembly; environment agency has approved project; D Price to contact PCC Transportation Dept to finalise.
Grass verge at Penybryn – ongoing issue – ground has been disturbed again by a vehicle and has not yet been repaired since last incident – D Price to chase at PCC.
Verge at Tanyfron has been disturbed by grass cutter – may just be due to bad weather – D Price to look into it.
5. Update from Fred Barker, PCC
Street Lighting – it is reported that ‘fear of crime’ is worst when the lights are off – mainly groups of elderly that feel insecure. Request from residents on Guidfa Meadows in the cul de sac that light CG64 is turned off and CG65 is turned on to allow lighting in the close. Clerk to action with PCC Street lighting.
Appears to be no lights on Meadow Rise – our survey has been ignored for this part of the village, clerk to write to street lighting to emphasis local needs following our survey.
Letter from Alan Southerby quoted re electronic planning consultation, community council has not received this letter – clerk to chase and distribute accordingly.
Dolau Jenkin’s Farm application for egg laying unit has been approved with agreement by the applicant to improve access to road, new hedging and increased access area and layby.
