Dear Sirs,

I have today visited your 'Ringmaster' section of the website and am most impressed. I was only checking up on WSN of Wakefield who sent me a scam letter today but the information on your website contains so much it is a real eye-opener.
For a Community website it really is impressive. Congratulations and keep up the good work.
Regards to all involved.

Subject: Re: Walks around Crossgates

Dear Sir/Madam,

I was recently made aware of the Llanbadarn Fawr website and am plesently surprised at the interesting content. One area I found very interesting was the circular walk around Crossgates. I think it is brilliant news that walks linking up with the lanes are being formed, there does seem to be a lack of footpaths and bridleways that actually 'go anywhere' in such a rural community. My reason for writing this email is in regard of bridleways. Some time ago I contacted the council about the lack of bridleways in the area. Many of the existing bridleways are dead ends or terminate on the main 'A' rounds running through the village. As you may be aware riding a horse on these extremely busy trunk roads is not far from a suicide mission. I explained this to the council and although they agreed the bridleway access was poor the cost of applying for new bridleways was too expensive and therefore not viable. Now, after seeing your new walks the brain cells started to turn a little and I wondered whether it is possible to upgrade these routes to bridleways. They are perfect for riders as almost all of the road work involved would be crossing a trunk road or riding on the lanes. It seems a shame when such a lot of effort has been made to get this project up and running to only make it available to one group of people. Currently I can only ride via Rock Road and the Cefn Lane after which I have to turn around and venture home the same way or when time permits which is not often, trailer my horse and my daughters pony to the Elan Valley where we can used the purpose made tracks. My daughter and I are not the only horse riders in the area so I am sure an upgrade of the route would benefit lots of other people to. I understand it probably isn't quite as simple as it seems and even if nothing can be altered at this time maybe this email will has highlighted the problems for other users of the country side in further planning of walks in the area.

Your sincerely

Suzanne Stephens

Dear Sir's,

I and two friends try the new Walk around Cross Gates to day we are not very impressed the route is  very poorly sign and the styles need a lot of work done to them,  it's my belief at it's more then 5 miles. We are very good walkers and walk many miles a week and was disappointment at we could not finish the walk the route at I got of the Internet was not very clear.

Please do not give my email address   to any one thank you.

Congratulations for what has been done on the circular walk project, I do however feel that the instructions given are inadequate and need to be a lot more detailed.   I printed the map and instructions from your website and found them very difficult to follow.   I suggest that a lot more detail needs to be added such as which gates to go through at various points on the trail.   More use could be made of small land marks by putting in remarks such as ‘keep belt of trees on your left’ or ‘pass to the right of old shed/farm building’.    I was not attempting the whole route this time but found the section from Old Mill Cottage to Church House Farm particularly difficult to follow.   Without more detail it is easy to cross the wrong field and be confronted by an impenetrable hedge or fence.   I obviously came out onto the A44 at the wrong point and did not find the track leading to Brookside.   The present instructions might be okay for an experienced orienteer but for local residents out for a country walk more is needed

Dear Mr Sennitt,

Re: Crossgates planned circular walk

Thank you for your comments.

The walk is still in its development stage and many of the paths lack signs and stiles ( a familar story in Powys! ).
We have, however, achieved one major success. Thanks to Powys officers and volunteers,
a forty foot bridge has been constructed over Clywedog Brook at the rear of the Park Motel.
( Access via a field path approx. 100 yard east of the Motel on the A44 )

Huw Jeffreys

Dear Marion,

Re:  Crossgates planned walk

Thank you for your comments.

As you know from our conversations when you walked with us a few months ago,
the Crossgates walk is nowhere near completion - hence the lack of signs and stiles.
We have, however, achieved one major objective, a forty foot bridge has been constructed over the Clywedog Brook at the rear of the Park Motel.

Huw Jeffreys

Comments=I notice that Llandrindod Wells is not mentioned in your attractions page.
Perhaps you consider that Llandrindod has no attractions or is simply unattractive.
Nevertheless, we would like to link your site to www.llandrindod.co.uk
Best wishes,

Thank you for your comment. As the nearest market town to our community I assumed everyone here would know all about Llandrindod Wells. On reflection I am probably wrong, so to make amends I have added the town council's website to our Useful Links page. Look forward to seeing a reciprocal arrangement on your website.

Thanks, Peter
The difficulty we have is that the Spa Town Trust merely hosts the Town Council's web pages, we have no editorial rights. However, I will speak to the Town Clerk to see if some such reciprocal arrangement is possible.

David Peter
